There are several ways that you can contribute stories and support current cancer patients. 

 

  1. Share your story, cancer related insights, or recovery suggestions. If you have undergone treatment and lived through the recovery process, sharing your experience can be one of the most powerful ways to support those who are facing a recent prostate cancer diagnosis of their own. We welcome your contributions here:

  • What was the outcome of the treatment you received?

  • How did your recovery experience compare with the expectations you had prior to treatment?

  • What do you wish you had known prior to treatment? Or what questions do you wish you had asked your medical team up front?

  • What has your experience been with pain? Did you have issues with sitting?

  • How has your experience been with urinary dysfunction? Sexual dysfunction?

  • Have you had to contend with relapse and follow-up treatment?

  • How long did it take to overcome incontinence? When did you regain the ability to ‘pee’ normally?

  • How much leakage did you experience?  How long before it stopped? 

  • How did you manage personal hygiene and keep your home clean?

  • What was your experiences with diapers or absorbent guards?  How many would you recommend purchasing the first time around?

  • Did you experience yeast infection or rash? Hemorrhoids? What remedies did you use? How long did the issue take to resolve?

  • How was walking with a catheter? How did you stabilize it?  Did you experience any related sleeping issues?

  • What was your experience walking when you first got home?

  • How quickly were you able to return to exercising after prostate treatments?

  • How important would you rate Kegel Exercise? What was/is your pelvic floor routine?

  • Did you have any mental health struggles during recovery? How did you manage times when you were feeling down, anxious, worried and/or less optimistic?

  • How was your experience of going back to work?

  • Recovery Checklist: Any items that you would add?

  • Q & A: Any questions and/or responses that you would add? 

  • Article Links: Any Articles, Blogs, Forums you recommend?

  • Perspectives: Provide as much information that you feel would be of help or interest.
